What a party, year after year! Since the very beginning, Ben & Jerry’s has been dishing out delicious, honest ice cream once a year for free on Free Cone Day.
This year, Free Cone Day fell on Friday, April 22, and everyone knew about it. In the run-up to this delicious day of free ice cream, fans of Ben & Jerry’s were able to register as ice-cream mayors in their municipalities. These mayors approached fans, both online and offline, from early April onwards to vote in their municipality on Ben & Jerry’s Facebook page. A total of 100 municipalities were selected for the online round of voting. Fans’ votes were converted into ice-cream points, so
that every municipality stood an equal chance.
The three municipalities with the most ice-cream points received free Ben & Jerry’s ice creams for an entire day.
Thanks to the great dedication of the ice-cream mayors and fans, Middelburg, Delft and Groningen enjoyed a day of scrumptious free ice creams. More than 10,000 votes were counted in the end. For more 2011 Free Cone Day pics, visit Ben & Jerry’s Facebook page.
